Cutting-edge Hydrogen Technologies here in Korea

- Held at KINTEX, Goyang City, from July 1st - 3rd with approximately 12,000 visitors

- From 11 countries, 108 companies and institutions related to hydrogen industry participated

- Due to COVID-19, online business meetings proceeded in association with KOTRA, recording USD22.4 million in potential export deals

- The International Hydrogen Forum discussed overviews and roadmaps to boost the hydrogen economy

The world’s first hydrogen mobility exhibition called ‘H2 Mobility+ Energy Show 2020’ was held at KINTEX, in Goyang City, GyeongGi Province from July 1st - 3rd, 2020. The show successfully concluded, highlighting the future possibilities of other such hostings of related specialized exhibitions that can promote advanced technologies of domestic companies and products in the hydrogen industry while creating new business opportunities.

In total, 108 companies and institutions in the hydrogen industry from 11 countries participated in as exhibitors and presented a range of technologies and products related to hydrogen and hydrogen mobility. The total number of visitors was recorded at about 12,000 for the exhibition period.

Exhibitors from home and abroad include: ▲ Hyundai Motor Group ▲ Korea Gas Corporation ▲ Kolon Industries ▲ Hyosung Heavy Industries ▲ Doosan Fuelcell ▲ Doosan Mobility Innovation ▲ Air Liquide ▲ Air Products and Chemicals ▲ Vitkovice Cylinders ▲ Rheonik ▲ Inficon and ▲ MS TATSUNO, to name a few. Some countries such as the Netherlands, Australia, Canada, and the United Kingdom had their promotion booths opened on site with the help of their embassies in Korea.

According to the organizing committee, due to the COVID-19, online meetings were held between exhibitors and buyers abroad in association with the co-organizer KOTRA. Joined by 22 companies, 42 total web meetings were held and the amount of discussed export deals reached around USD22.4 million. Business talks are still ongoing with KOTRA centers located around the world.

On the first day of the exhibition, the 1st Hydrogen Economy Committee, a pan-governmental group for the hydrogen industry was launched. In the opening ceremony of the exhibition, Prime Minister Chung, Sye-kyun, the Minister of Trade, Industry and Energy Sung, Yoon-Mo, and Hyundai Motor Group Executive Vice Chairman Chung, Eui-sun as well as other prominent committee members attended.

The International Hydrogen Forum was successfully held on the second day of the exhibition and aimed to strengthen international cooperation in private sectors and share overviews and roadmaps of individual countries to boost the hydrogen economy. In the forum, representatives participated and delivered speeches from such prominent organizations as Hyundai Motor Group, Air Liquide, Hydrogenics, CHFCA (Canadian Hydrogen and Fuel Cell Association), and CaFCP (California Fuel Cell Partnership) among others.

On the final day, an award ceremony was held for advanced technologies among the participants. Awards were presented to Kolon Industry and SamJung ENC in the areas of hydrogen mobility and infrastructure for hydrogen fueling, respectively.

Organizing Committee Chairman Marn-ki Jeong said, the goal of the H2 Mobility + Energy Show 2020 was to be an exhibition that can lead the world in the hydrogen technology field, connecting people and companies with each other to encourage the sharing of ideas and opinions, as well as to promote hydrogen-related business.” He added, “While there is CES, the famous annual consumer-electronics show in the U.S. that offers a platform to present the world’s advanced IT technologies, likewise, I would like to see the H2 Mobility + Energy Show become the world’s best exhibition for the hydrogen industry. On behalf of the organizing committee, I can assure you that we will do our very best to make this dream a reality.”

The H2 Mobility+Energy Show 2020 is the first exhibition and conference for the hydrogen industry in Korea that was hosted by the H2 Mobility+Energy Show Organizing Committee and jointly organized by Organizing Committee, Korea Trade-Investment Promotion Agency, and KINTEX, sponsored by relevant ministries of Korea including the Ministry of Trade, Industry and Energy. Next exhibition is scheduled for July 2021.
